In The Spirit
of the Concordia
The Company Logo
of 1000 Miles Network consists of the sails of a ship spread
to full extend. "1000 Miles" in bright red words,
symbolizing warmth and passion. "Network" in
information technology, represent a series of nodes interconnected
by communication paths for the purpose of information exchange
and sharing resources.
1000 Miles
Network Logo is inspired by the Concordia, a class of racing
yawl with colorful history. The Concordia was first built in
1938, but the majority of the boats are built after World War
II. First named ESCAPE - later renamed Java, the original Concordia
yawl, was commissioned and won her first race in 1939. Shortly,
thereafter, Waldo Howland acquired historic South Wharf in the
coastal village of Padanaram, Massachusetts, and began the transformation
of Concordia company into the world-class yacht builder.
Although the
first Concordia yawl was designed primarily as a coastal cruiser
and all-around family boat. it was racing successes of the Concordia
that caught worldwide attention. A total of 103 boats were built,
making this the largest of large one-design wooden sailboats
in the history of sport. All 103 survived today.
1000 Miles
Network hopes to embrace the spirit of the Concordia and
emulate its success as one of greatest sailboats built in history.
